Wednesday 20 October 2021 Learning Update Over the past two weeks, Year 6 have been enjoying using ’Arthur Spiderwick’s Field Guide to the Fantastical World Around You’ as a stimulus for their writing. During our English lessons, Year 6 have encountered a number of mythical creatures; they really were astonished to find out that a leprechaun may be causing havoc on the school field and were even more surprised to discover that I encountered a real-life “Cockatrice” on a woodland walk!

Sunday 3 October 2021 Crucial Crew - Friday 1.10.21 Today Year 6 went to St Alban’s Fire Station to take part in “Crucial Crew”, where they learnt essential life skills and how to keep safe during different scenarios they may experience as they get older and begin their transition into secondary school. Pupils moved around in small groups and spoke with different specialists including police officers and fire-fighters. Year 6 had a great morning and learnt so much from the different situations they were exposed to. They picked out potential fire hazards, learnt basic first aid, participated in a role play on how to react if approached by a stranger and discussed how to keep safe near water and on train tracks. Following this, Year 6 received a pack to take away with them to remind them of all their learning from that morning andwhat to do when out and about and faced with potential danger!
