If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Year 6 - Stations Of The Cross/Lenten Appeal

This week, Year 6 pupils participated in a mini-pilgrimage around the school grounds, marked out with The Stations of the Cross. The 15 stations commemorate Jesus Christ's last day on Earth as a man. At each station, we reflected on specific events and each of us read part of the liturgy or a prayer during this quiet time of reflection. We finished our pilgrimage in the prayer garden, where we listened to the gospel telling us of the resurrection account by Luke. To end the liturgy, we each had the opportunity to collect something special outside that became part of our Easter Garden.

Throughout Lent we have been filling our Lenten Charity boxes for the Catholic Children’s Society (CCS). As part of our Lenten Promises, we thought about how we could use what we were giving up to help towards donations for the CCS – for example, some of us gave up sweets/chocolate and used the pocket money we saved as a donation into the boxes. Today, we collected all of our boxes together. We were so proud of what we were able to achieve through building a ‘culture of community’ and felt pleased to know that our dedication and commitment will go towards supporting local disadvantaged children and families.
