Welcome to Year 3

In Year 3 we have had a busy start to the term! The children are learning about place value in maths and have worked hard playing games to embed place value and to try and work with larger numbers - they have shown a good understanding of place value.

In English, we are working towards exploring a variety of fables. They have been discussing the features of a fable, and have also been differentiating fables from other stories. 

In Science, we have been looking at staying safe around electricity. In our first lesson, the children discussed the natural sources of generating electricity. Our second lesson was about exploring and sorting different electric appliances. We have learned about appliances around the house that use mains electricity and appliances that are battery operated. Please allow them to walk around their own home and try to find various appliances and tell you how they work. 

In DT, we will be making torches – we have started our D&T work project. We are currently exploring different types of torches and talking about their purpose.
