It was lovely to see the children settle back in after their Christmas holidays looking refreshed and ready for the new term ahead. We welcome Henry and his family into our school community and hope that he will be happy in his new class.
During our English lessons, the children enjoyed listening to the story of ‘Here Comes Mr Postmouse’. After listening to the story, the children took on the role of one of the characters and wrote a thank you card to Mr Postmouse.
The children visited the library on Wednesday and will continue to do so each week. This will give them the opportunity to choose a book to read for pleasure.
During our Maths lessons, the children have been balancing scales and finding numbers to equal a given amount.
We began our RE topic on ‘Special People’ and the children thought about what makes a person special. This enabled the children to reflect upon the special people in their lives and how they help them. This links well with our value of the month which is gratitude.
During our Science lesson, the children have been distinguishing between an object and the material from which it is made from.
I have been amazed at the wonderful work that the children created for homework using a range of different materials. This also supported their knowledge and understanding of the different properties of materials.
Next week the children will begin their topic work on Unity in the Community. They will also be finding out about the artist César Manrique during Art and Design. From this, the children will be exploring kinetic art.
Have a lovely weekend!
