Well done to all our Year 1 children for the effort that they put into our class assembly. They all worked together as a team to learn their lines, read beautifully and sing songs with enthusiasm. Mrs Serra and I could burst with pride for each one of them!
This week in Maths, the children have continued to use repeated addition and multiplication by looking at ‘Maths’ in pictures. They have been given a problem to solve and this has supported them in using language such as ‘lots of’ and ‘groups of’.
During our English lessons, the children have been ‘Word Detectives’ and have been clapping out how many syllables there are in different words. They will continue this next week and learn about compound words, prefixes, suffixes and plurals.
Our final RE topic called ‘Neighbours’ will enable the children to think about our global neighbours around the world. This week for homework, the children have been asked to find out about the work of CAFOD.
In Art and Design, the children have been focussing on art in nature. They have been encouraged to look closely at the detail in natural objects and patterns in animals. Next week, they will be finding out about the artist Henri Rousseau. They will be using paint, pastels and collage to create their own version of a ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm’ picture.
On Friday, we will be celebrating French Day and Mrs Luckhurst has been working hard to arrange activities so that the children will enjoy a fun day.
Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
