Summer Term 7
Last week, Year 2 had the exciting opportunity to visit Woburn Safari Park. We left school Wednesday morning and arrived at about half past 10. As soon as we got there, we had a little break and snack before entering the gates to the wonderful enclosures. Our tour guide came on the coach with us and told us lots of amazing facts about each of the animals in the enclosures. We visited the herbivore, omnivore and carnivore enclosures. We saw rhinos, elephants, monkeys and lions. One of the monkeys jumped on the school coach - we thought we would have to bring him back to school with us. After that, we had an interesting workshop about habitats and adaptations. Then, after lunch we experienced a Woburn Zoo train ride to the alpacas and the Woburn play area before returning back to school.
This week, we had an exciting drama workshop based on our English text, The Last Tree. The drama specialist taught us about different drama techniques that we can use in role play when trying to understand the characters' feelings. We practised some freeze frames and learnt about something called 'conscious valley'. It was so much fun role-playing parts of the story in groups and linking everything to our whole-school theme of conservation.
