If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Lunar New Year

Last week we were learning all about Lunar New Year. It was an action packed week with lots of exciting learning taking place. To understand why the Chinese zodiac is made up of 12 different animals, the children learned all about the story of the  animal race and that 2022 is the Lunar Year of the Tiger. Some of the other activities included designing Chinese New Year cards, developing finger strength by picking up items using chopsticks, performing dragon dances  and eating some foods which are traditionally shared during the Chinese New Year celebrations. The children in Friend’s Together Pre-school made Chinese dragons and enjoyed sharing the Chinese New Year rhyme with Juliette.

This week as a school we have focussed on children’s mental wellbeing.  The nursery children have talked about what makes them happy and about the different feelings that we often have. We have enjoyed yoga, an outdoor sensory activity and a dance workshop. Juliette has encouraged the  children to use song and musical instruments to express themselves!
