If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Terrific Totem Poles!

We have had a super couple of weeks in Year 5 with lots of learning happening.

In English, we completed our mystery book, 'The Water Tower', but still had many questions left unanswered. The children had lots of ideas about why the main character, Bubba, had dramatically changed at the end of the book. Perhaps the sequel of the book will provide those answers for us?

Yesterday, we began out new English unit based on Raymond Briggs' classic picture book, 'The Snowman'. We watched the first two minutes of the film, discussed the awe and wonder James feels when he steps outside into the snowy scene and then wrote a letter telling Grandma all about the incredible day. The children's letters were very well written with lots of imagination and extended sentences!

In DT, we are well on the way with our Totem Pole project. Yesterday, each group got busy with planning their Totem Pole design. Next week, we will turn our classroom into a workshop where our designs will come to life! Below are some of the brilliant Totem Pole sketches the children completed a couple of weeks ago when we were researching them.

Over the next two weeks, there will be lots of exciting events happening in school. During this time of anticipation and excitement, we will also be taking time to reflect on our blessings and thanking God for all the love and support we receive from our family, friends and teachers.

Have a lovely weekend everyone.
