Diwali
This week the children have been learning about similarities and differences between different cultures and beliefs by learning about the Hindu festival of Diwali. We have created Rangoli patterns and Diya lamps and heard the traditional story of Rama and Sita. We tried some new foods: poppadum’s, naan bread and some delicious Diwali sweets which we made from coconut, dates and condensed milk. Individual photos will be posted in your child’s Tapestry journal.
As you can see from the photographs it has been a busy start to this half term. We are very excited as our EYFS outdoor enhancement project has started this week. We have enjoyed watching the builders as they work to create climbing apparatus to target the development of gross motor skills. Children’s water play will be enhanced with a super water wall and water trays where through lifting, pouring, carrying, running and splashing the children will be developing and strengthening gross and fine motor skills. Finally, we will have a grass covered tunnel and balancing stools. The tunnel will not only provide physical benefits to our children but it is a very versatile piece of equipment which will provide endless imaginative play opportunities.
Have a lovely weekend.
