St Dominic Catholic Primary

If we live by truth and in love, we shall grow in Christ

Legends, Statistics and Ancient Greece!

Happy New Year! I hope you all had a restful and enjoyable Christmas and new year.

The children have settled back to the class routines really well.

In English, we have been reading legends, exploring features and language of different types of legend stories. The children have also discussed the elements of a legend story. They showed a great interest in knowing more about legend stories and how they differ from other stories. The children have also looked at powerful verbs and adverbs used in the legend stories that they have been exploring.

In Maths, the children are working on interpreting and inferring bar charts. They had a go at drawing and representing information on bar charts. They have learned how to use bar charts to compare and interpret information to answer questions.

In our new topic on Ancient Greece we are looking at timelines and the meaning of democracy. We have had a discussion over the advantages and disadvantages of living in a democracy.

In RE we have been thinking about life as a journey. The children have shared in some thought provoking discussions. We are working hard to understand the liturgical  year and the importance of the colours for each season of the church's year.

Please continue with listening to your child read. The homework will go out every Thursday. Please can all homework be returned by the following Wednesday.
