Art skills on display

This term our year 5 students have had the opportunity to investigate the Wars of the World. By doing this, they have perused the artwork of Henry Moore who was famous for sketching the civilians who sought refuge in WW11 on the train lines on the train platforms in the underground tunnels.

The children showed great observational skills as they analysed the work of Henry Moore’s drawings while others drew objects ( bottles). Incredibly, they showed keen awareness of where the sun reflects on the drawings, so they could capture that when shading. While shading they created tones and textures using cross-hatching and stippling techniques. It has been wonderful to see their progression of skills and ultimately the finished product.
